17 months

Oh my! Nereus is 17 months old already! This month came by so fast. I guess it's because I have a job now, what do you working mothers think?

Anyways, my little one is a crazy smiling creature who runs around and screams a lot! A typical toddler with all the tantrums and an appetite for independence. He brings me so much joy!

In this post I continue with these fun stuff he has been doing lately because I really want to remember those.

*He loves being chased and everytime someone goes close to him, he runs away and hides full of excitement.
*He's still calling us ma and ba. Why waste saliva, anyway?
*When he's breastfeeding, he has a break at some point and grabs something-whatever he finds-and puts in on my breast so it can have some milk, too. He's so generous. So far, he had fed his teddy bears, several cups, socks, bread, a ball and a book. Oh and me of course!
*He loves helping in the house. He transfers the potatoes from the grocery bag to the basket we keep them in, he throws carbage in the trash, he gives me the clothespins when I hang the laundry, he brings me oranges to make him juice are a few of the cute little things he does.
*He likes putting several things into his mouth and then he insists to ask him to get it out!
*He's having so much fun with his dad and has no problem to stay away from me for a few hours! I can't believe that he's already in this phase. And you know what? I don't feel sad! I love watching him growing up! He still depends on me and my breasts of course and this is something I love!

  1. It goes so fast. Each month speeds by. Blink and before you know you will have a 20 year old. You are lucky Nereus says Ma, I am still waiting.
On a personal note, how often/how much do you still breastfeed?

    1. He breastfeeds before he gets up in the morning, in midday before his nap and he also breastfeeds to sleep at night. These feeds last about 5-20 seconds. He may breastfeed a couple more times during the day if he doesn't feel very well and needs some security. That happens for a few weeks now. He was breastfeeding much more before.

  2. He is adorable! That hair is amazing!

Amar'e has been asking me to give her dolls a "baba" (her word for breast) lately too! It is so funny. Then I will catch her trying to give her babydoll her "baba" sometimes......sooo cute!

  3. This is such a fun age! Nursing a toddler can be pretty funny. I love that he's into sharing - so sweet.

I was at home for the first 8 months of Kale's life on maternity leave and when I went back to work, time seemed to FLY. I think it's harder to notice the little changes that you do when you're home with them and so the changes seem to hit you all at once. I sometimes find that even when I'm home on the weekend compared to being at work all week. So crazy!
